I don’t have very much time for writing this morning. I've got bake sale orders to fulfill, a house to decorate for Halloween, a scavenger hunt to prepare for and, of course, I've left my own costume to the very end. This Halloween has been a something of a test-run of my intention to simplify the holidays this year (an intention I vow to realize every year…).

Let's see how I did:

- I asked for help with putting on the scavenger hunt. +1

- I am feeling a bit stressed out to get everything done. -1

- I thought that Willa's costume was going to be simple but...-1

- I cut reasonable corners while making Davis' costume. +1

- I bought most of the decorations instead of making them all at home. +1

- The treat bags are a mix of homemade goodies and store-bought. +1

- I hand-decorated all the treat bags. -1

I think it's pretty much a wash. Maybe entertaining is always a bit of a mad dash to the end? It just warms my heart to see how much fun the adults are having preparing for the activities that they are hosting and decorating their homes. We're all pulling together to make sure the kids have a good time- even the folks without kids are decorating their houses and asking me how many kids we'll be having so that they have enough treat bags on hand to pass out. And, we’ve absolutely lucked out weather-wise- it's gorgeous outside. So, maybe it is a crazy amount of work no matter what I do. But, there is something in the striving, isn’t there? Who would I be without it? Well, wherever you are, I hope you and your families have a safe and splendid Halloween. There are so many great suggestions out there for what to do that meets everyone at their comfort-level.
